Access for walking :
It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk from Hillerod Station to the castle.
The road to the castle is almost a straight path. It's very easy.
We can walk there enjoying the beautiful scenery.

We can see the lake near the station soon.

We can walk along it.

Walking this path is a highlight of visiting Hillerod.

Usage of Bus:

When walking is difficult or the weather is bad,

we can take the local bus from the station.
The buses that pass near Frederiksborg Castle are numbers 301 and 302.
We get off at the 'Frederiksborg Slot' bus stop.
It takes about 5 minutes to ride.
The bus fare is also covered by the Copenhagen Card.

　About Frederiksborg Slot

Christian IV adopted the finest Dutch Renaissance style of the time and remodeled his castle into a magnificent structure symbolizing his power and prosperity.

The construction was taken place in the early 17th century.
The completed castle was praised as one of the most beautiful buildings in all of Northern Europe.

Today it is used as the 'National History Museum of Denmark.'
It has a large collection that tells the story of Denmark's more than 500-year history.

The Chapel / Slotskirken:

The church was escaped damage in the great fire of 1859.
It’s the most sacred place inside the castle. From 1660 to 1849, the coronations of successive kings were held here.

The walls and ceiling are lavishly decorated with gold, ebony, and ivory. It’s full of a solemn and majestic atmosphere.

The historic pipe organ made in 1610 is considered as the finest works of art, thanks to its elegance and intricate design.

The Audience Chamber:

These are beautiful little rooms filled with the essence of Baroque style.They were added during the reign of Christian V.
They're decorated like little treasure chests.

Allegorical paintings praising the king are also decorated on the ceilings.The walls are covered with intricate decorations.
