Torino Manuscript : Ricercari Libro Secondo
Hans Leo Hassler(1564-1612)
There are many things I don't understand about this fugue.
First, this Fuga i. corresponds to the latter part of the piece recorded in “Denkmäler Deutscher Tonkunst” as Introitus I. Toni, with the Toccata section omitted. I would like to trace the original source further, but it seems difficult.
Next, regarding the title “Toccate del primo lib.” attached to the piece. It seems there might be a collection of pieces corresponding to this title, but so far no trace of it has been found.
