No.17 (Orlando di Lassus) "Angelus ad pastores ait"
There are two typical spellings of Lasso: "Lasso" and "Lassus". I'm not very good at spelling it the way I want it to be spelled, so I've decided on a random spelling. In this case, Dow, the transcriber, has spelled it correctly in Mus-988, so I have used it as it is in the score.
However, the conjunction "de" does not seem to have many examples, so I have changed it to the more common "di" in the explanations here and on youtube. There is no right answer for this kind of thing, so we will continue to work on it as it comes up.
I learned from CPDL that this lyric is a variant of Luke 2-10, 11, so I checked it and found that it seems to be almost the same except for the beginning. The red parts are the same.
