Boys Volleyball



The boys varsity volleyball teamwon the ILH championship on Tuesday night, dethroning 14-time defending league champ Punahou, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-19, on its home court. It was the eighth consecutive victory for our Raiders and the third in a row versus the Buffanblu.





After winning our school's fourthILH title in boys varsity volleyball and first since the 2003-04 season, our Raiders turn their attention to this week's HHSAA State Tournament. As the top-seed, 'Iolani has a first-round bye and will play the winner of Monday's Leilehua at Hilo match. Ourquarterfinal match is scheduled to begin at 7 pm at Moanalua High School. Softball


On Tuesday, our Raiders playedat Punahou for the ILH Tournament title and came up short, 12-9, in a game that featured nine home runs. Our softball team will play Waianae on Wednesday in the first round of the HHSAA State Tournament. First pitch at UH's Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadiumis set for 2:30 pm. 




The winner of that game will advanceto play 4th-seeded Big Island champ Kealakehe in the quarterfinals on Thursday at noon. Go Raiders!Here'sthe link to the tournament bracket.





May Day: E Lei Nō AuI Ko Aloha



Leading up to May daythe Upper School lunch activities included lei making and haupia giveaway. On Wednesday, the entire school gathered in the Lower gym to celebrate May Day. This year’s theme: “E Lei Nō Au I Ko Aloha” meaning “I wear your love as a wreath.











The ceremony was openedwith the Hawaiian Language students singing 'Ano 'Ai followed by the May Day court procession. Our Kāne danced hula kahiko to “Ke Aloha I Ka Pu'uwai” and “Kāka'ikahi Ka Manu 'Ō'ō” and our wahine performed hula 'auana to “Kāne'ohe” and “Lei Pakalana.” The chorussang “Aia Ke Kanaka” and our faculty and staff danced to “Lei Pua Melia.”

Thecourt danced to “Ali'i 'Iolani” and the Queen danced to “Ka Loke,” both sung live by the Mākaha Sons of Ni'ihau. Congratulations to our 2019 May Day Court:
