粥状動脈硬化（じゅくじょう・どうみゃく・こうか）
（動脈が肥厚し硬化した状態を動脈硬化といい、これによって引き起こされる様々な病態を動脈硬化症という。動脈硬化の種類にはアテローム性粥状動脈硬化、細動脈硬化、中膜硬化などのタイプがあるが、注記のない場合はアテローム性動脈硬化を指すことが多い。）
Arterial disease: a common arterial disease in which raised areas of degeneration(退化、変質） and cholesterol deposits (plaques) form on the inner surfaces of the arteries.
These tend to obstruct blood flow when the blood clots on the roughened plaques.
