Experiments conducted at Vanderbilt University are vital in the fight against (cancer). Alex Walsh is using a (laser) to make what she calls organoids glow. Organoids are small pieces of a patient's (tumor ) that are about 100-to-300 micrometers in diameter. Organoids that are grown in a petri dish are dosed with cancer drugs and placed under a microscope. The tiny tumor is then blasted with a laser. That laser light makes the organoids glow because they are naturally (fluorescent ). The organoids glow to different (degrees) based on their response to the chemo drugs. It means that the result tells the researchers which drugs are (effective) for a patient.
