K: A gentleman, as always.
A: Well, I was raised to be one.
K: That leads right into my first question. What was your upbringing like?
A: Well, I was born in Austria. I didn't speak English.
K: But you learned it.
A: Yes, it took me a long time to learn English.
K: I'm still learning Japanese. It's taking years!
A: そうなんですか？
K: You speak Japanese?

➫「～から…を奪う」関係を表す「マイナスの授与」の文
➫ 通常の授与型と同じく、動詞の後ろに開いた２つのスロットにポンポンと目的語を入れていく

(3) The restaurant charged us $15 for seating. That's in addition to what we ordered.
