A motto is a short sentence or phrase that expresses a rule for sensible behaviour, especially a way of behaving in a particular situation.

➫ appreciate 本来の意味は「評価する」
➫相手の行為を高く評価することが感謝につながっている
➫そのため目的語は「人」ではなく、「やって（言って）くれたこと」となる

➫「～を仰ぎ見る→尊敬する」
➫目上の人に対する尊敬を表す

➫ worship、idolize ともに「ちょっと行きすぎだよ」というニュアンスも感じられる
