英文法を勉強する方法はただ一つ、Huddleston、Pullum,Reynoldsらが打ち立てた記述英文法の原書を自力で読む、です。それ以外の「名著」は読んではならない。混乱するだけです。特に記述英文法を標榜しながらTraditional English Grammarを取り入れるようなものは百害あって一利なしです。決して手に取ってはならない。右顧左眄すると混乱し、時間を浪費するだけです。
私は、下記の著者と同じ気持ちです。学校英文法を教えるのはいい加減にしろ、と申し上げたい。
