今年の初めに乙魅サマから、「この曲を披露したいんだけどどうかな？」って連絡が来て、
初めて聴かせてもらったとき、めちゃくちゃいいなと思って。
シンプルだからこそ言葉と想いがストレートに胸に届いてくるし、
サウンドの明るさから、乙魅サマが前を向いてみんなの目を見て進みたいって思っているんだろうなって思えて、
是非ライブで演奏しよう、みんなに届けよう、ってアレンジを進めることになりました。
実際ライブで演奏して、より一層この曲の良さがじんわり心に広がった感触があったかな。
Earlier this year, Omi-sama reached out saying, “I'd like to perform this song—what do you think?”
When I first heard it, I thought it was absolutely amazing.
Its simplicity lets the words and emotions hit me straight in the heart,
and the brightness of the sound made me feel like Omi-sama wants to look forward, meet everyone's gaze, and keep moving forward.
So we decided to arrange it for a live performance—to share it with everyone.
Actually playing it live, I felt the song's beauty spread even more deeply within me.
レコーディングでも大きいアレンジ変更はせず、バンド5人のサウンドを大切に作っていったよ。
サビの「会いたくて〜」のところは私や乙魅サマの歌声を録音したんだけど、ライブでは是非みんなにも歌ってほしいポイントです！
そうそう、この曲は私のコーラスも沢山入っていて、ギタープレイはシンプルだけど、ギターのリフと歌の噛み合わせは結構練習が必要だったりしました。
ギターソロも私と乙魅サマのツインギターソロなので、乙魅サマと心の波長を合わせるような気持ちで弾いてるよ。
ライブでもCD音源でも、この曲を隅々まで味わい尽くしてほしいな！
We didn't make any major arrangement changes during recording either, carefully crafting the sound of the five-piece band.
For the chorus part “Aitakute" we recorded me and Omi-sama's vocals, but it's a spot where we really want everyone to sing along at the live show!
And this song has lots of my backing vocals too.
The guitar playing is simple, but getting the guitar riffs and vocals to mesh perfectly actually took quite a bit of practice.
The guitar solo is a twin guitar solo between me and Omi-sama, so I play it with the feeling of tuning into her wavelength.
Whether it's live or on the CD, I hope you savor every single detail of this song!
そしてこのアルバムのラストを飾る、「砂漠の花」。
アルバムの曲順はめちゃくちゃ難しくて悩んだところではあるんだけど、
アルバムのラストの曲が「君に会いたくて」、さらにエンドロールとして「砂漠の花」のようなイメージで並べてみたらしっくり来たんだ。
でも、実際に音が完成してじっくりと聴き込んだら、「WHO I AM」で自分とは何だと問い、そこから色んな自分たちを経て、
最後に辿り着くこの「砂漠の花」で、大切なものを求めて旅をし続ける旅人=exist†trace、なんだってことに気づきました。
And closing out this album is “Sabaku no hana”
The track order for this album was incredibly difficult and gave me a lot of trouble,
but when I arranged it with “Kimi ni aitakute” as the final song and then “Sabaku no hana” as the end credits, it just clicked.
But after the actual sound was finished and I listened to it carefully,
I realized: starting with “WHO I AM” questioning what I am, then passing through various versions of ourselves,
we finally arrive at this “Sabaku no hana”—it's about the traveler, exist†trace, who keeps journeying, seeking what's truly important.
どこに行っても珍しい存在である私たちは、何かの色に染まること、どこかに立ち止まることは自分たちらしくなくて、
もうこの身にこの心に持っている「自分たち」を連れて、もっともっと自分たちらしく、もっともっと自由な音を求めて旅をし続けたいんだ。
Wherever we go, we're a rare sight.
To be colored by something, to stand still somewhere—that's not who we are.
We want to keep traveling, carrying the “us” we already hold within our bodies and hearts,
seeking sounds that are more and more like us, more and more free.
この曲の世界観を作り上げるのに欠かせないのが、アコースティックギター。
私のアコギで世界の土台を、乙魅サマのエレキギターのフレーズで切ない景色を作り、この曲の主人公2人の生きる舞台が完成します。
私もその主人公の1人を歌で演じたので、レコーディングもかなり集中して挑みました。
コーラスを歌う時は、ジョウの歌のキャラクターに寄せて歌うことが多いので、どちらかと言うとキリっとカッコいい声で歌っているんだけど、
この曲は儚くも芯の強い女性のイメージで、自分の声質も活かしながら声色を作りました。
なかなか自分の声のキャラクターについて考えることが少ないので、とても難しかったけれどすごくいい経験になったよ。
The acoustic guitar is essential to building this song's world.
My acoustic guitar lays the foundation of the world, while Omi-sama's electric guitar phrases create a poignant landscape,
completing the stage where the two protagonists of this song.
Since I also portrayed one of those protagonists through my vocals, I approached the recording with intense focus.
When singing choruses, I often tailor my singing to match Jyo's vocal character, so I tend to sing with a crisp, cool voice.
But for this song, I aimed for the image of a woman who is fragile yet strong at her core, crafting a vocal tone that also made use of my own voice quality.
It was quite challenging since I rarely think about my own vocal character, but it was a really great experience.
この曲を聴き終わってからもう一度「WHO I AM」に戻ると、「WHO I AM」がまた違った印象に聴こえるのも不思議。
何度でも何度でも聴いて噛み締めて楽しめる一枚となりました。
昔から応援してくれている人にも、最近私たちを知ったばかりの人にも、これがexist†traceですと自信を持って届けられます。
