歌詞の内容なんか関係ない、意味がないと。
メロディー、ハーモニー、リズムから感じたものを歌詞にしたのでしょうから、それはそれで良いわけです。
だから歌詞は曲の説明なので歌詞を自分の感じたもので作り直すのは大いに結構だと思います。
個人的には、Peter, Paul and Mary-”500miles”の方が好きです。
