Obento box

Hello and good morning.

A few weeks ago my eldest son entered the junior high school, and he has started a lunch box.  That is, for me making the "obento".
数週間前に、息子（長男）が中学へ入り、毎日お弁当の生活が始まりました。 

It is every day from now on until he will be graduated from high school, and as my middle son follows it I do not know how many years in total am I going to spend with obento. 

高校を卒業するまでずっとになるので、その下の次男も続くと思うと、果たして何年間作り続けるかなと若干気が遠くなります・・・

However just as I have seen some books and photos of this typical Japanese lunch, I found them really beautiful as well as being sensitive.  And it 

definitely looks like an "art of every little food" in combination. 
 

しかしながら改めて色々なお弁当の本や写真を見てみると、日本のお弁当って実に細やかで

目に楽しいものばかりと感じました。
少しずつのおかずが美しく詰められていて、さながらアート・芸術品のようです。

Especially compared to the western style of school lunches for example, I used to have a very simple sandwich pack daily while staying in the summer school in US at teenager.  There are, so, many types of sandwich wrapping bags in the store. 

特に欧米のスクールランチと比較してみると、例えば私が昔アメリカに（夏の間だけ）ホームステイした時、すごくシンプルなサンドイッチだけ入ったランチバッグを毎日持参していて。
なので、サンドイッチを入れる簡易バッグがいろいろとお店にはありました。
 

Also an old friend of mine living in France told me that they do not have such a practical or pretty lunch box like in Japan, which surprised me a bit.
また、フランスに住んでいる旧友はフランスでは日本のような機能的で素敵なランチボックスは

見当たらないと話してたので、ちょっと驚きでした。

In Japan the Obento box nowadays has much wider range in its uses, styles and designs, and it is fun to look at them being neatly arrayed at the shop for a holiday period.
最近はお弁当箱もさらに進化して、用途・メーカー・デザインによって種類が格段に増えた感じがしますし、行楽シーズンに店先にお弁当グッズがきれいに並んでいるのを見るのは楽しいですね！
