この著書が世に出た1910年の時点でワトルズは
今の世界の繁栄をすでに予知していたかの内容です。

"The formless stuff is intelligent; it is material which thinks.
It is alive and is always impelled toward more life.
It is the natural and inherent impulse of life to seek to live more.
It is the nature of intelligence to enlarge itself and the quality of
consciousness to seek to extend its boundaries and find fuller expression."

その無形の物質は知性、思考する力が備わっています。
It is alive and is always impelled toward more life.
その物質は生きながらより高いレベルを求めています。
It is the natural and inherent impulse of life to seek to live more.
それはごく自然で生来備わったものなのです。
It is the nature of intelligence to enlarge itself
知性が発展していくこては自然の摂理であり
and the quality of consciousness to seek to extend its boundaries
意識の特性はその枠を超えていくことで、
and find fuller expression.
より大きく表現できる機会を求めていくのです。
注）作者は思いを表現するのにかなり抽象的・概念的な言葉を
選んでおり、所々訳すのに哲学的な発想が求められます（汗）
書籍を訳し、内容を理解してからオーディオCDを
原文で聞くと、とても効果的です☆
本やCDは最低１００回は聞いてください。
きっと理解力が増していくことでしょう
そして、本は声を出して読む、
CDは聞いた内容を後から声に出す。
（いわゆるシャドーイングというやつです。）
そうすると英会話力が飛躍的にアップすることに気づくでしょう。
何事も基本を何度も続けることが肝心です。
