Hello there! It’s Halloween again so in celebration this issue of e.Front’s English Corner will once again have a slightly graver theme than usual! In this issue we’ll be looking at how a few spooky words like coffin, grave, ghost, etc. can be used to have a bit of fun when talking about some everyday situations. Read on!

おばけThis issue’s theme: Halloweenおばけ

  1. “Be careful while driving around coffin dodgers. They sometimes just walk into the road without looking! I almost hit one the other day!”

  2. “I didn’t know the answer to the last question so I just took a stab in the dark. It’s probably wrong but at least I tried.”

  3. “When I had the flu last year I felt like I had one foot in the grave! It was terrible.”

  4. “Donald Trump has many books but they were written by ghost writers.”

  5. “I have no idea what’s wrong with the computer today. It must be gremlins in the system.”

That’s the end of this week’s Halloween themed issue. Don’t forget to keep some sweets or candy nearby as you never know who might come trick-or-treating! See you next time!

Hi there and welcome back to yet another issue of e.Front’s English Corner! This issue we’ll be eyeing up some more useful English phrases. Eyes, ladies and gentlemen! There are many shapes and colours of eyes and there are many types of eye phrases such as a worm’s eye view, a bird’s eye view, and bedroom eyes. Yes, eyes are the focus of this issue so feast your eyes on the following phrases!

This issue’s word: Eye

  1. “You’ll never eat all that food. Your eyes are bigger than your stomach!”

  2. “I have really bloodshot eyes today. It could be my allergies or maybe I didn’t get enough sleep.”

  3. “My brother and I had a relationship based on an eye for an eye when we were younger. If he hit me then I’d hit him back just as hard.”

  4. Eye contact is important for non-verbal communication, but be careful not to stare as that can make the other person feel uncomfortable.

  5. “I only saw the traffic accident out of the corner of my eye. I didn’t really see whose fault it was.”

That brings us to the end of this week’s issue so I hope you enjoyed it! Keep your eyes open for more fun phrases coming in future issues of e.Front’s English Corner! See you next time!
