Unbeknownst to me Costa Coffee is a pretty big deal.
Growing up in a small English village devoid of any big chains, I had never even heard of Costa Coffee until a few years ago after it started appearing in vending machines around Tokyo. It was even founded in England in 1971 and it's currently the second largest coffee house chain in the world ... Who knew? Well, not me anyway ...
Seeing as it was founded in England it has of course been bought up by bigger companies and it's now a subisdiary of Coca Cola. So I've added it to the growing list of great British companies swallowed up by big multi-nationals. Let's see, that's Rowntrees, Cadbury's, and Costa Coffee so far. There's many more of course but I'll save those for another rant in another blog post.
Just for the record the Almond Latte was my favourite.
