For many of us it passed as quickly as it came. Golden Week is one of the busiest times of the year and one of those holidays that requires at least a minimum amount of planning if you consider going out. Main roads are packed with cars, popular attractions such as theme parks, zoos and parks are swarming with visitors trying to break away from their daily routines and even the sky seems busier with more flights scheduled after the pandemic.
There are however, some quiet spots, oases of peace that offer a much needed rest, even if getting there might still be a challenging experience. Yoyogi Park during Golden Week is less crowded compared with the cherry blossom season and is spacious enough to accommodate the most demanding picnic enthusiasts. Spending half a day in the shade of a tree, surrounded by green vegetation and flowers and with a gentle breeze on my face was a great way to unwind and recover from everyday hustle and bustle.
