Hi there and welcome back to e.Front’s English Corner! I hope the phrases from last issue came in useful. Come to think of it, why not check out the word come? It’s another common word in English with many different uses. So come on, let’s have a look!

“My nose keeps running and my throat feels strange. I think I’m coming down with a cold.”
“Do you have any allergies?” “No, I don’t think so. Nothing comes to mind anyway.”
“You should come clean with your wife and tell her you lost all that money betting on the horses.” “No way! She’ll kill me.”
“I had my annual health check today but I have to wait for the results to come in. I’ll pick them up next week.
“How come you weren’t at work yesterday?” “Oh, I had a wisdom tooth out so I took the day off to rest.”
