Hi everyone! Welcome to the first edition of e.Front’s English Corner!
What is e.Front’s English Corner?
e.Front’s English Corner is to introduce one simple word or phrase that can be used in a variety of situations (sometimes with different meanings).
Examples for each situation are presented as they would appear in natural speech.
Situations can include:
・general English including conversational and business situations
・common situations Japanese people have with English speakers in Japan, e.g. customers
at pharmacies (and other medical situations) and giving directions to tourists, etc
・situational English when abroad, e.g. at immigration at the airport, at a restaurant, etc
For our first edition let’s look at a very common word in English: Take. Take looks very simple but it can be used in a variety of ways and situations. Take a look at the examples below!
This edition’s word: Take
-
“Take care outside. It looks icy.”
-
“Can you take our picture? Thanks!
-
“I need to take this medicine twice a day after eating.”
-
“Take a look at these reports. What do you think?”
-
“Thank you for coming to our seminar. Please take a seat.”
Well, that’s all for this edition. See you all in two week’s time!
