先日肩凝りがひどかったのでマッサージに行きました。少し強めに揉んでもらうと痛いけども気持ちいいのです。この「痛みの心地よさ」のように矛盾した感覚を一般的に一言で表す日本語は何だろうと探してみましたが結局見つける事ができませんでした。綺麗ではないけど優雅な『ざとうくじら』もこの一例かもわかりません。英語ではoxymoronと言うそうです。耳慣れない言葉なので辞書で確認してみると、日本語の意味は「矛盾した表現」、語源はギリシャ語の鋭いという意味の”oxy”と鈍いの”moron”の全く反対の意味を持つ言葉とありました。日本語には対応する単語はないのでしょうかね。

According to the dictionary, I searched in since it was an unfamiliar word, the meaning in Japanese is “contradicted expression”, and the etymology is to have a completely opposite meaning of "oxy" of which the meaning to be sharp in Greek and dull "moron".
