I woke ready to do business. I knew what I needed to do; contact Lee-Anne. My brothers Graham, Lindsay and Nigel had all joined me on the journey of buying the car and I had been ringing them at different intervals for advice and direction. Graham had encouraged me all along the way, to negotiate Mag wheels.
Well, I rang Lee-Anne to see if her original quote was still valid. She could not answer me straight away and needed to acquire confirmation from those who had the authority. While I was waiting for her call back, my fingers got itchy again and I called another dealer. His reply was amazing. He had the Mirage in four different colours and his price was $500 less than Lee-Anne's quote. I mentioned that my choice of colour was silver and he replied that the hatchback did not come in silver. Oh, a hatchback. I hadn't considered a hatch back and what great price!! Lee-Anne returned her phone call and requested a deposit over the phone. I declined and said I was coming down to look at the car in person. I confessed that I had very good price from another dealer but the price was for a hatch not a sedan. There was an unusual pause in her breath which I didn't understand.
I knew now, that I was getting very close to purchasing my car. I met Lee- Anne in her office and reiterated the discovery that I had made at the other dealer. I was introduced to a salesman called Scott who lead the way to the Mirage. Upon seeing it, my mouth dropped open. It was not a sedan but a hatchback. Scott knew and tried to divert the conversation but I wasn't going to let it go. I said that I could get a hatch in the colour of my choice for $500 less than the quote that had been given to me on this car. I said I would like to test drive the the little blue hatch but would not be buying it when I could get it cheaper somewhere else! The girl who accompanied me on the test drive was affected by the revelation of my story and said she would speak to Scott on our return. Despite me being upset with being tricked the little hatch was having a cheeky affect on my personality. I was having fun and it was making me feel very happy.
