12月はアッと言う間に終わります。私には別にやる事もないXmasがやって来ましたが、皆様は如何がお過ごしでしょうか？楽しい時間を過ごされますよう。
The Tale of Beautiful Names
“ Yes…Surely Tai-Pi-Yuan is his stage name, as you know. Please ask him by yourself.”
Answered Otemo to Hina. Suddenly as usual easygoing Hina had got interested in “names”, maybe by a strange fish.
How depressed do you know your generousity got to make me, Ooh-oh Touch”? It’s me who is called “Tai-Pi-Yuan.”
I heard that “Mr. Touch”, Dad of Hina’s friend in kindergarten, caught a lot of fish called “Got-luck-cart-boo” in Kumamoto and gave one to each of his daughter’s classmate. Hina brought this fish of unique name she had never heard home, and showed it to Kana with excited curiousness.
“Oh, It’s mere Cut-sat-go, a familiar fish for us.”
Kana told Hina so. Both of them seemed to be a little disappointed. In Japan; the country rich in gift from ocean, it’s common for the fish of well known name in a certain region to have another name in other region.
“I expected this fish to be so rare because “Got-luck-cart-boo” sounds exotic.”
I guess that Hina might turn her ruthlessly curious eye to me, instead of Got-luck-cart-boo
I'm Tai-Pi-Yuan. Tai-Pi-Yuan is my proud stage name which I myself adopted to present bright laughter to all of Kumamoto people, though I can’t declare that I made any success. My real name given! I heard that it was chosen by my parents and grandparents wishing me to be tough and big hearted. I’m afraid that they failed to realize my sensitiveness and humble richness hidden, like the taste of that “Tai-Pi-Yuan.” Yes, I should take their hope on me. My real name is “Dye-the-eight-monk Owe-tea-monk.”
Kana and Hina began calling me “Dye-chan” sometimes after my confession. It sounded not bad. But the problem was that I was often dismayed to have ended my words with “ dose” in spite of myself.
In this connection I may add that Kana and Hina had been reluctant to tell their rather uncommon family name to others. Their honorable last name is “Toe- be-tat-know.”

オテモはヒナにそう答えた、ヒナは、不思議な魚を見て「名前」に興味を持ったのだ。
タチ ウオウさん、あなたの親切が、私タイ、ピー、エンをどれだけ憂鬱にさせたかお分かりですか？
タチ ウオウさんはヒナの幼稚園の友達のお父さんだ。熊本でガラカブ と呼ばれる魚をたくさん釣って、娘の同級生に一匹ずつお裾分けしてくれた。ヒナは、この彼女らの聞いた事のない名前の魚を家に持って帰って、好奇心一杯に目を輝かせながらカナに見せた。
「これカサゴだよ。これなら、あたし達もよく知ってるよ。」
カナはヒナに言った。二人ともちょっとガッカリしたようだった。海の幸に恵まれた日本では、地方によって魚の名前が違うのは珍しいことではない。
「ガラカブなんて外国の魚みたいな名前だから、もっと珍しい魚かと思った。」
ヒナは、ガラカブの代わりに、その容赦ない好奇の目を私に向けたのだろう。
私はタイ・ピ－・エンだ。タイ、ピー、エンは、熊本の人みなに幸せな笑いをもたらすために私が自分で誇りをもって選んだ芸名だ。確かに未だ無名だが。私の本名！それは私の父母と祖父母が、私に逞しくて大らかな子になって欲しいという願いをこめてつけた名前だそうだ。父母と祖父母は、まるであの太平(たいぴー)燕(えん)のような私の繊細で控え目な持ち味を見誤ったのではないか？だが、彼らの願いも一理ある。私の本名は『大手門(おおてもん) 大左(だいざ)衛門(えもん)』だ。
私が白状した後、カナとヒナは時々私のことを「ダイちゃん」と呼ぶようになった。そう呼ばれるのは思ったほど悪い気持ではないが、問題は、そう呼ばれて返事をする時、どうしても語尾に「～だす。」とつけてすまうことだす。
余談だが、それまではカナとヒナも自分達のかなり珍しい苗字をあまり他人には教えたがらなかった。彼女らの苗字は『飛(と)陽(び)立野(たつの)』という。
因みに「いなかっぺ大将」の作者、「川崎のぼる」先生は熊本在住だそうです。
念のために太平燕とは、春雨をアッサリ中華スープとたっぷり野菜で食べる、熊本名物の麺料理です。
Tin Tall Taleも 来年は、いよいよ大きく動き出しそうな、そんな予感があります。今、色々と構想を練っています。今年のXmas。今年の締めくくり。KanaとHinaが笑いながら走って行きました。その先に又、新しい年、新しい顔に出会えるでしょう。
