耳に心地いいギターロックの典型で、
ヴォーカルのニック・ヴァン・イードの
吐息がもれるハスキーヴォイスが
絡みあうのがとにかく気持ちいい！
カッティング・クルーと言えば、
言わずもながの特大ヒットソング
「I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight
～愛に抱かれた夜」で、
一発屋的な扱いを受ける少し悲しいバンド。
元々、イギリスのバンドだが、
Virginレコードのアメリカ進出の
先駆けとして、アメリカ的な
サウンドプロダクションで成功したので
北米（アメリカやカナダ）出身と
思っている人も多いが
デビューアルバム「Broadcast」を
聴きなおしてみると、
直球勝負しかしないアメリカのバンドが
持ち得ない味がある。
哀愁漂うメロディが日本でもウケた
「愛に抱かれた夜」とは違い、
この曲はさわやか路線まっしぐら。
私自身は、
この曲のような爽やかな
ギター＆キーボードサウンドは
好きだが、
世間の人は
前述の「哀愁漂うメロディ」路線を
求めていたことが
デビューアルバムがピークの
ようになった原因だろう。
バンドは、
このあと２枚のアルバムをリリース後、
Virginレコードの都合もあって解散。。。
2006年に再結成したらしいが、
オリジナルメンバーの
ケヴィン・スコット・マクマイケルも
亡くなって、ヴォーカルの
ニック・ヴァン・イードの
個人プロジェクトになっている。
