Musical Youth - Pass The Dutchie
昨日は、たまにはレゲエなんかを聞きながら
コーヒー・タイム・・・って感じだったワケですが、
そんなところで、昨日の「世界こどもの日」ということにちなんで
ミュージカル・ユースの1982年のヒット曲「パス・ザ・ダッチー」の
和訳に挑戦してみました。
もともとは、レゲエらしくガンジャ関連の歌詞でしたが
子どものレゲエ・バンドということで歌詞が書き換えられています。
ところで、今回YouTubeでプロモーション・ビデオを見ていて
気が付いたのですが(誰もが知っていることだったら恥ずかしいのですが)
2'20"頃に一瞬チラッと登場するドレッド・ヘアーの子どもが、
ボブ・マーリーの「One Love / People Get Ready」のビデオに出てくる
子どもじゃないかと思うのですが、どうでしょうか？
この子は、ずっと女の子だと思っていましたが男の子らしいんですね。
Jesse Lawrenceという名前だそうです。

「One Love / People Get Ready」のミュージック・ビデオは、
ボブ・マーリー没後の1984年にベスト・アルバム「レジェンド」の
発売に合わせて制作されましたので、
ミュージカル・ユースのビデオのおよそ2年後です。
少し成長しているように見えます。
ちなみに、「One Love/People Get Ready」のミュージック・ビデオに、
ミュージカル・ユースの面々も登場してきます。
他にも、ポール・マッカートニーやバナナラマの3人のうち2人、
マッドネス(Madness) のチャス・スマッシュとサグスもカメオ出演しています。
