本日は会話でよく使うcan'tを使った決まり文句です。
I can't help it.
I can't stanｄ it.
I can't make it.
I can't afford it.
動詞自体は簡単ですが、「元々の動詞の意味＋できない」と訳しても、意味が通じないことがあるので注意が必要です。
★can't help it （or noun, gerund) 「～せずにはいられない」、「～するのは仕方ない」
I can't help crying when I hear this song.
I always end up having an argument with her.
I don't know why. I just can't help it.
I can't help myself. (＝can't stop myself)
It can't be helped. （It couldn't be helped．）
どうしようもない。（どうしようもなかった。）
★can't stand it（or noun, gerund) 「～に耐えられない。～を我慢できない。」
※「私、～無理（嫌い）です。」という感じです。
I couldn't stand the noise.
I can't stand people smoking inside.
I can't stand being kept waiting.
★can （can't ) make it 「成功する」、「～を達成する」、「～ に出席できる、来ることができる」
He couldn't really make it as an actor.
I don't think that I can make it (ex. to a party) on Saturday.
※～に行けない（参加できない）と断るときに使います。
I won't be able to make it.
★can't afford it（or noun, to ＋動詞の原型） 「（金銭的に、時間的に）～する余裕がない」
※もともとの動詞から意味の変化はありませんが、よく使う言い回しなので覚えておくといいです。
Can we afford a new car?
I can't afford to go abroad this summer.
