私たちははるばる月までも往復したが、
新たな隣人に会うために通りの向こう側にすらなかなか行けない。
私たちは複製品を作るためにこれまでないほどに情報を保有する
コンピューターを作ってきたが、それでもコミュニケーションは減っている。
量は十分増やせたが、質は不足している。
ファーストフードの時代で食べるのは早いが、消化は遅い。
男女とも背丈はかっこよく伸びたが、性格には欠点がある。
利益は大幅に増えたが、その人間関係は少しも深くない。
今の時代は、窓の外側には多くがあるが、部屋の内側には何もない。
"We have bigger houses but smaller families; more conveniences but less time. We have more degrees but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgement; more experts, but more problems; more medicines, but less good health. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor. We've built more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, still we have less communication. We have become long on quantity, yet short on quality. These are times of fast foods, but slow digestion; taller men and women, but short on character. There are steep profits from shallow relationships. It's a time when there is much in the window, but nothing in the room."
