(3/4：参照）Israel agrees to revise Eurovision song lyrics that evoked Hamas attack
Israel has agreed to revise the lyrics of its potential submission to the Eurovision Song Contest after the contest organizers took issue with verses that appeared to reference Hamas' Oct. 7 attack, Israel's national broadcaster Kan said on Sunday.
According to lyrics leaked to the media, and later confirmed by Kan, it includes lines such as "There's no air left to breathe" and "They were all good children, each one of them" - apparent allusions to people who holed up in shelters as Hamas gunmen carried out a killing and kidnapping spree at an outdoor music festival and other sites which sparked the war in Gaza.

(3/5：参照）Japan’s Nikkei 225 index surpasses 40,000 for the first time
Japan’s Nikkei 225 index jumped above 40,000 points for the first time on Monday, extending a historic rally that analysts say may have much further to run.
The milestone comes just days after the stock market index set a record closing high of 39,098.68, eclipsing its previous 1989 peak.
The Nikkei has surged more than 20% this year, making it the best performer among major equity indexes in the world.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the U.S. and the global economy experienced a “China shock,” a boom in imports of cheap Chinese-made goods that helped keep inflation low but at the cost of local manufacturing jobs.
A sequel might be in the making as Beijing doubles down on exports to revive the country’s growth. Its factories are churning out more cars, machinery and consumer electronics than its domestic economy can absorb. Propped up by cheap, state-directed loans, Chinese companies are glutting foreign markets with products they can’t sell at home.
Some economists see this China shock pushing inflation down even more than the first.

Apple stock, which still makes up about half of Berkshire’s equity portfolio, has come under pressure on a variety of fronts.
The company has yet to offer detailed plans on an artificial-intelligence strategy and fewer iPhones are being sold in China, hurting overall revenue growth. A European Commission fine of nearly $2 billion over what it calls “abusive App Store rules,” disclosed Monday, isn’t good news either. Apple plans to appeal.
Apple’s stock has fallen 9% this year, while other members of the so-called Magnificent Seven--names such as Nvidia, Meta Platforms, and Amazon.com --are up by double-digit percentages. The broader market, as measured by the S&P 500 has climbed 7.6%.

Never mind the layoffs: Some of the biggest U.S. tech companies have swelled their ranks much more than they have trimmed them.
Microsoft, Alphabet and Netflix each employed 50% more people than before the pandemic, year-end disclosures show. Not far behind is Meta Platforms and Amazon.com has nearly doubled its workforce since 2019, a Wall Street Journal analysis shows.
Since late 2022, these companies have said they would cut more than 70,000 jobs combined. Continued hiring, acquisitions and past recruiting binges have more than offset the recent wave of reductions.
