１、まずは原文を読んで、だいたいどのような内容かを推測する
２、単語、表現を参照しながら、もう一度読む

４、最後に原文を音読する
５、日本語訳を読むだけでも、１週間の出来事が分かる
日本語訳は可能な限り前から後ろに訳している。その癖をつけないと、早く読んだり、耳で聞いて理解するようにはならないからだ。話し言葉は前から順に消えていくので、聞き手は前から順に理解している。日本語は結論が後に来ると言われるが、文脈から聞き手は結末を予測しているのだ。
英語では結論が先に来るので、聞き手はその詳細を期待することになる。例えば、何かが最も上がったなどという表現の後には、期間や範囲を限定する表現が続く。その後に理由やその他の詳細が続くのだ。だから英語での討論では「いったい何がいいたいの？」などということはなく、聞き手が話し手を途中で遮って、「あなたの言いたいことは分かるが、、、」と自分の意見を述べることもできるのだ。

Manufacturing, once 36% of Brazil’s gross domestic product in 1985, fell to just 13% in 2022, the worst example of “premature deindustrialization” in the world, according to a recent ranking of the 30 countries that make up 90% of global manufacturing by the Sao Paulo-based Industrial Development Study Institute, or IEDI.
That has created a difficult challenge for President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who began as a metalworker here in Sao Bernardo do Campo before rising to prominence leading a potent trade union movement. As president, he has pledged to sharply lower poverty--a near-impossible task, economists say, without stronger economic growth and the recovery of the country’s industrial base.

Coming off its fourth straight week of gains, the S&P 500 rose 0.9% to 4338.93, its highest close since April 2022. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ticked up 0.6%, or about 190 points, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.5%.
Shares of a few big technology companies have led the way, buoyed by booming interest in businesses involved with artificial intelligence. But the rally has broadened in recent days, with investors flocking to previously beaten-down stocks such as the online used-car retailer Carvana.

The number of people in work in the United Kingdom has climbed above its pre-pandemic level for the first time, reaching a record high. But that hasn’t plugged worker shortages that are pushing up wages and making Britain’s inflation problem harder to solve.
Employment in the United Kingdom has recovered more slowly than in any other major economy since the pandemic, according to the UK Institute for Employment Studies.
And Tuesday’s jobs figures will serve as good news for the government, which unveiled a raft of measures in March to encourage parents, retirees and those with disabilities or in poor health back into work.
But labor shortages are still holding back economic growth and forcing wages higher, adding to inflationary pressures.

The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency warned the Ukrainian government not to attack the Nord Stream gas pipelines last summer after it obtained detailed information about a Ukrainian plot to destroy a main energy connection between Russia and Europe, officials familiar with the exchange said.
Weeks later, on Sept. 26, the pipelines were hit. Ukraine has vehemently denied that it had anything to do with the attack on the pipelines.
Dutch military intelligence officials told the CIA that a Ukrainian sabotage team was looking to rent a yacht on the Baltic coastline and use a team of divers to plant explosives along the four pipes of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines.
