N: Good afternoon, guys. How was your weekend?
Ma: Oh, the usual. I went to the gym and did my routine.
Afterwards, I just went home and relaxed into my easy
chair with a cup of hot sake in one hand.
N: Hot sake on a cold, wintry night sounds just right.
How about you, Mina?
Mi: Nothing exciting but I recently joined the world of
SNS, specifically Facebook.
N: Really? When did you become a Facebooker?
Mi: Just last Tuesday. A friend of mine who enjoys fishing
hooked me up. At my last count, I have three friends.
N: Add as up (referring to DCEC's Facebook account), so
you'll have four. Masa, would you like to join Mina's
network of friends?
Ma: As lame as it sounds, I am not so familiar with Facebook.
N: Don't worry; you asked the right person. (pointing to
herself)
Mi: Aren't we a Facebook expert?! (teasing Nicole)
N: Not really. To be honest, my mom was the one who
introduced me to it.
Nicole launched into a short demonstration of how to sign
up for Facebook.
N: Easy breezy, right? (turning to Masa and Mina)
Mi: Thanks Nicole. Now I can search for my other friends
and make my reach wider.
Masa, this will be a good use for your new gadget.
N: I totally agree. Speaking of which, I haven't seen you
use it. What applications have you installed?
Ma: Now it's my turn to be honest. I haven't used it.
Mi: What? But you've had it for months now...
(shaking her head in disbelief)
N: Yeah, I remember when you told us about it.
Are you having any buyer's remorse?
Ma: I don't think so. I'm just waiting.
Mi: Huh?
Ma: I'm waiting for my new laptop to arrive, then I'll be
good to go.
N: I see. Then, could you please just do one thing for me?
Ma: What is it?
N: If it is still inside the box, please take it out of
the box and let it breathe.
Ma: How did you know?!
Mina and Nicole laughed in unison.

Mi: これといって面白いことはないけど、最近ソーシャルネット
ワーキングサービスの世界に足を踏み入れたの。厳密に言うと
フェイスブックの。
N: 本当？ いつフェイスブッカーになったの？
Mi: 先週の火曜日に始めたばかり。ちょうど楽しんでいる友だち
の一人が紹介してくれたのよ。全部で3人の友人がいるわ。
N: 私たちのを入れると（DCECのフェイスブックアカウントを
差し）4人ね。マサ、ミナの友だちの輪に入りたくない？
Ma: 遅れてるように聞こえるだろうけど、フェイスブックには
あまり詳しくないんだ。
N: 心配ないわ。よくぞうってつけの人に聞いてくれてくれたわね。
（自分を指す）
Mi: 私たちってフェイスブック専門家じゃない？！
（ニコルをからかい）
N: そうでもないんだけどね。正直に言うと、フェイスブック、
母に教えてもらったのよね。
ニコルはフェイスブックの登録の仕方を説明してみせた。
N: 超カンタンでしょ？（マサとミナに向かい）
Mi: ありがとうニコル。これで他の友だちを探せるし、もっと交友
範囲を広げられるわ。マサ、これあなたの新しいガジェットで
使えるわよ。
N: 賛成。そういえば、あなたがそれを使ってるの見たことないわ。
どんなアプリをインストールしたの？
Ma: 今度は僕が正直に言う番だね。使ってないんだ。
Mi: 何ですって？でももう数ヶ月経つじゃない...（信じられない
といった様子で首を振り）
N: ええ、あなたが話してくれた時のこと覚えてるわ。買って後悔
してるんじゃないの？
Ma: そうじゃないよ。待ってるんだ。
Mi: えっ？
Ma: 新しいノートパソコンが届くのを待ってるんだ。そしたら
もう使う準備はバッチリ。
N: なるほど。じゃあ、一つだけお願いしてもいいかしら？
Ma: 何だい？
N: まだ箱の中にあるなら、箱から出して、呼吸させてあげてね。
Ma: どうしてわかったんだい？！
ミナとニコルが同時に笑う。
