After last week's Hearts' day celebrations...


F : Guys, this month we are celebrating another
milestone in DCEC. We turned nine on March 1st.
M : Whoa! Has it been that long already? Makes me feel
older (grins).
F : Oh yeah, Miki here is one of our pioneer learners.
N : Congratulations to DCEC! Kudos to you too, Miki,
for continuing your English studies!
F : Hear, hear! (referring learners to the announcement
on the board) In line with this, DCEC has prepared
something special for you, a DCEC first.
An illusionist who hails from Mexico will come to
our anniversary event on March 17.
M : An illusionist? Do you mean a magician like
Mr. Maric?
N : Or David Copperfield?
F : Yes! His name is Riken and he comes from a family
of magicians in Mexico but he's now based in Japan
with his wife.
M : Wow! So, does he speak English or Japanese?
N : Can he do the guillotine trick or the dove trick?
How about making the Statue of Liberty vanish like
David Copperfield?
F : Hold your horses, Noriaki. Yes, Miki, he can speak
both English and Japanese.
I heard Emery saw him bend a fork merely by looking
at it. His tricks are all over YouTube too.
But if you want to see more, you have to come and
see.
M : Say no more, Felicity. You can count me in!
Do I have to twist your arm,　Noriaki or are you
　　coming (winks at Felicity)?
F : C'mon, I'm sure you don't want to miss this once-
in-a-lifetime chance, do you?
N : (exchanged glances with Miki) I'm in!
M : There, Felicity has worked her magic again.

先週のバレンタインデーのお祝いの後で...

F: みんな、今月私たちはDCECのもう一つの偉業達成をお祝い
します。私たちはこの3月1日で9歳になったの。
M: すごい、もうそんなに経つの。歳を感じさせるわね。（苦笑い）
F: もちろん、ミキはここではベテランのうちのひとりだから。
N: おめでとう、DCEC! ミキの根気のある英語学習にも敬意を
示すよ。
F: 聞いて、聞いて(ラーナーへ掲示板の告知を示して)。
今回、DCECは初めて特別なイベントを用意していて、
3月17日に、メキシコから来たマジシャンが私たちのアニバー
サリーイベントに出演するのよ。
M: マジシャン? マリックみたいなマジシャンの事を言ってるの?
N: それとも、デビッドカッパーフィールドのような?
F: そう、彼の名前はリケン。メキシコのマジシャンファミリー
のひとりなんだけど、今は奥さんといっしょに日本で活動
しているの。
M: へぇー、それで彼は英語を話すの？それとも日本語？
N: 彼はギロチントリックか、ハトを使ったトリックはできる？
デビッドカッパーフィールドみたいに自由の女神を消せるの
かな？
F: 落ち着いて、ノリアキ。そうミキ、彼は英語と日本語の両方
を話すのよ。
彼がただ見ているだけでフォークを曲げたのを見たってエメ
　　リーが言ってたわ。
彼のトリックはYouTubeでも見られるけど、もっと見たいの
　　なら、実際に見に来るしかないわね。
M: わかったわかった。フェリシティー。私も参加するわ！
ノリアキ、力ずくで連れて行ってほしい、それとも行く気で
いるの？（フェリシティーにウインクして）
F: ほーら、こんな滅多にないチャンスを逃したくないのはわか
ってるんだから。
N: （ミキとちらり見を交わして）僕も参加するよ！
M: ほら、またフェリシティーが魔法を使ったわ。

さあ、今週はまた音声付のダイアログです。
まず、したのリンクからダイアログを聞いて、そのあと、次の質問に
答えてみてください。

~During and right after a private fashion class.


J - Today, we were able to learn how to describe accessories-
by its design, element, size and shape, color, fabric or
material, type and purpose. Also, we're able to pick up
new words like, vivid, enamel, accented, gorgeous, etc.
What other words do you remember?
E - Stunning, sparkling,rhinestones and of course, exhausted.
J - Why did you say "of course" at the end?
E - Because I feel a little exhausted recollecting the expenses,
time and effort I spent shopping for spring.
J - Well, same here. I've been shopping almost everyday this
week - clothes, shoes, accessories, name it!
I don't have much savings left for the rest of the month.
Anyway, for your homework, please bring a picture of or
your own accessory itself and present it in two sentences.
E - Any will do?
J - Yes. Well, that's it for today.
E - Thank you.
J - It's always my pleasure.
(both leave the room and go to the lobby; Samantha joins them)
S - (to Emiko) How's your lesson?
E - Great.
S - By the way, it's my break, do you want to join me for lunch?

J - Uh-oh! Count me out.
S - Why?
E - She doesn't have enough budget because she's a victim.
S - Of robbery?

　ことを勉強出来ました。
　また、新しい言葉も覚えました。たとえば、「鮮やかな」とか「エナ
　メル」「アクセントのある」「ゴージャス」など。他のどんな言葉を
　覚えて　いますか。
E:「とても魅力的な」「きらきら輝く」「ラインストーン」そして勿論
　「とても疲れた」
J:どうして最後に「勿論」ってつけたんですか。
E:だって、春物のショッピングに費やした時間と労力とお金を思い出し
　チョット疲れちゃったから。
J:まあ私も同じね。今週はほとんど毎日ショッピングをしていたわ。
　洋服でしょ、靴でしょ、アクセサリーでしょ、ほかにももっと。
　今月はもうお金が無いわ。
　とにかく、宿題にあなた自身のアクセサリーの写真かそのものを持っ
　てきて、２つの文で説明して下さい。
E:なんでもいい？
J:ええいいわ。では、今日はこれでおしまいです。
E:ありがとう。
