I have always believed that traveling is good for our senses. It makes us experience things that we wouldn't normally encounter. In addition to that, it makes us understand things better and even make our views wider.
One of my dear learners, Megumi, went on a Europe trip with her friends. I'd like to repost her series here.

Drive旅の復習】Day3/Cesky Krumlov～Wien(Austria) [旅の"語Log"
三日目。
今日は次の街に移動する前に
チェスキー・クルムロフ(Cesky Krumlov)を散策。
Day 3.
Befor we headed for next destination, we walked around the town again.
日本のようにお堀はないが、お城がぐるりと水で囲われているイメージ。
そのため、街の中に入るには数か所しかない石の橋を渡る必要がある。
そんな街のつくりのおかげで
奇麗にまとまりのある街＋そのままで残った、のかもしれない。
それにしてもヨーロッパの人達は昔の建物を活用するのが上手いなぁ。
古い建物を活かしたまま、お土産屋さん/レストラン/ホテルになっているので
景観を損ねず、且つうまく観光地化しているように思う。
とにかくセンスがいい！
This castle doesn't surrounded by moats, but you can have such a image like that.
When you enter the town, you have to cross the bridge there are only few.
That kind of structure made beautiful and good balance, remain in the historical town, I thought.
European has excellent taste.
They can maximize the likelihood of the old but historical building that for using souvenir shop, restaurant, hotel and so on.
お土産屋を冷やかしながらぶらぶらとお城へ。
お城の中に入るにはツアー参加が必要。
時間の都合で参加しなかったが、お城や近くの塔に登って街を見下ろした。
We went to the castle while enjoy window-shopping.
If we'd like to enter the castle, we should participatein a tour, but we didn't have enough time.
We decided to go top of the tower beside the castle.
…絶景！！
Wow! Lovely!
後ろ髪を引かれつつも、そろそろ出発の時間。
優しかった宿のお姉さんとこの街にもお別れだ。
We'd like to stay more, but it's time to go.
せっかくなので、ドナウ川沿いをドライブしながらウィーン(Wein, Austria)を目指すことに。
一緒に行った友達は国境越えをかなり楽しみにしていたのだが、
大きな街道で国境を越えてしまったため、あれよあれよというまま
気が付いたらオーストリア入り！という感じに。苦笑
あっけなかったなぁ。
We've decided to drive to Wien, Austria along the Danube.
My friend was very looking forward to get over the border between Czech and Austria, but we had already gotten across!
It was almost too easy. I think because it was the high-road.
ドナウ川を走りながら、
私「ドナウ川がタイトルになってる曲があったよね？」
友「あるね！なんだったっけ？」
私「（歌ってみる）ボヘミアの川よ～ モルダウよ～」
友「違うし！モルダウになってるし！」などと キャッキャしながら移動。
While driving along the river, we talked cheerfully each other;
Me "Do you remember the famous song, the Danube is used in the title?"
Friend "Ah, there is! But I don't remember."
Me "(Try to sing a song, but it was "My country" written by Smetana Vltava.)"
Friend "No! It's wrong! It's the Moldau!"
ドナウ川は思っていたより大河。
そして川沿い（両側）には お城が点在している。
私も友達も、ひとつ見つけては大騒ぎ。（またすぐあるんだけどね）笑
きっと、川が運搬手段だったから、川に沿って都市が発展していたんだろうなぁ
それで街が(＝お城が)点在しているのかも。
そんなことを考えながら景色を楽しんでいたが、
そろそろお腹も空いてきたのでランチタイム。
せっかくなので川沿いにテラスがある店を探して車を止めた。
The Danube was mighty river.
Many castle and church remain here and there on the banks of the Danube River.
It's very easy to find, but it makes us feel high.
Long time ago, the Danube used to the main transportation.
Some towns were developed along the river, that's why there are many castles, I was inferred from the view.
I focused in ancient times for a while, but my stomach's growling reminded us that we had been getting hungry.
We decide to stop our car at the restaurant, we'll be able to have a lunch with a good view from the terrace.
「ドイツ語のメニューしか無いんだけど、大丈夫？」というウェイターさん。(お！英語だ！助かるぅ)
チェコ語も判んなかったけど、ドイツ語も判らないので、
ウェイターさんにお勧めを聞く。
英語を話すウェイターさんで良かった～！
今日のランチは彼のお勧め、ドナウ川で採れた川魚[Cat fish]に決定！
ナマズってどんな味なんだろう… Let's Try！
"Sorry, we don't have a English menu, but Germany. Is it okay?", he said.
I felt relief he speaks in English. We asked recommendations to him.
"This restaurant is fish restaurant. So we can serve fresh fish from this river. I'll recommend Catfish."
We had decided to try new food, catfish.
味は… 最高！ めっちゃ美味しい！
隣の席でビールと一緒に川魚を食べるおじさまを横目で見ながら
ウィーンでたっぷり飲んでやるぅ！と決意して車を走らせる。
The taste good! It was mild, so delicious!
I was jealous the man who was sitting next to our table and drinking beer!!
Definitely drink beer after arriving to Wien!
ウィーンは大きな街。
私のような田舎者には辛いのよね～と苦労しながら車を走らせる。
個人的にはロンドンを走った時より走りにくい印象。
大きい街での宿探しはTourist Information Centerに頼るが一番！
ってことで目指していてもなかなか見つからない。
おかげで車で中心部をぐるぐるしながら見どころ観光。(^^;
Wien is big city, it was not easy to drive a car...
Wien was more difficult to drive a car than London to me.
We had been looking for tourist information center, but it got very complex.
However, we could enjoy driving around the main tourist spot in Wien.
宿は大都市相場なので安い部屋でも私の予算からすれば高い。
そして狭くて設備も相応。
とはいえ、友達がどうしても来たいと行っていたウィーンに来れたからよし！
「場合によっては2泊しようか？」と言っていた私たちだが
「1泊にしとこう」と方針転換。
明日はシェーンブルン宮殿を見た後、出発することに決定。
We tried to find the budget-priced accommodation near the center.
Big city's accommodation fee is expensive to me.
The location was good, but the room being small and equipment is not good.
We talked each other before coming, if we liked here, we'll stay in Wien for 2 night.
But we decided to stay only for today and we will leave this city after the tour of Schonbrunn Palace tomorrow.
チョコレート大好きな友達の最大の目的はコレ！ザッハトルテ。
本場で食べれて良かった。美味しかったぁ～
Main event of the day was Sachertorte.
It was really delicious, not too sweet.
We were happy, we could eat the authentic Sachertorte at Hotel Sacher!!

Today's travel distance: about 250km。
