N: Oktoberfest? (seems clueless) That's news to me.
T: (explaining to Naomi) Didn't you know that every year,
DCEC prepares outdoor and indoor parties for its learners?
F: Yup, you got that right, Tomo. It's a venue to mingle with
other English learners.
T: I remember winning last year's Best in Costume for donning
a dracula costume at the Halloween Party.
N: You don't say.
F: This year though we have planned several parties you could
choose from. There's the DCEC Sports Day, Ladies Soiree,
Oktoberfest and Picnic at the Park. And get this, you can
join as many parties as you wish.
N: Sports Day? Hmmm...sports are not really my cup of tea so
I think I'll have to pass.
F: Oh, don't worry about it. DCEC Sports Day is just another
day at the park involving some relay games.
T: Isn't Octoberfest a beer festival in Germany?
F: You hit the nail on the head. During DCEC's Oktoberfest,
we have set two drinking parties.
T: Neat! Count me in (all smiles).
F: You might be interested in joining the Ladies Soiree, Naomi.
It's an afternoon party exclusively for women.
N: I guess it'll be nice to meet other people interested in
English other than...
(winks) you know who (referring to Tomo). Kidding!
T: Ha! Are you saying, you're sick of seeing me in class?
F: Oh, Tomo. Naomi's just kidding. So, tell me Naomi, are you
in or out?
N: You think I can pass up the chance to have a drinking bout
with Tomo? Of course not!
F: All right then, it's a date.

N: オクトーバーフェスト？（全く知らないといった様子で）
初めて聞くわ。
T:（ナオミに説明して）DCECが毎年、生徒向けに屋外と屋内のパー
ティーを用意してるの知らなかった？
F: ええ、その通りよトモ。他の生徒さんたちと交流できる場なの。
T: 去年のハロウィンパーティで、ドラキュラの衣装を着てたのが
ベストドレッサー賞だったのを覚えてるよ。
N: ほんとに？
F: でも今年はいくつかのパーティーの中から選べるように計画してる
の。DCECスポーツデー、レディースソワレ、オクトーバーフェスト、
公園でのピクニック。好きなだけ参加できるわ。
N: スポーツデー？ うーん...スポーツはあんまり好きじゃないから、
やめとくよ。
F: ああ、心配しないで。DCECスポーツデーは公園でリレーゲームをした
りする日なの。
T: オクトーバーフェストってドイツのビール祭りじゃないの？
F: ご名答。DCECのオクトーバーフェストの期間には、２つの飲み会
を設定してるの。
T: いいね！ 僕も参加させて。（満面の笑みで）
F: ナオミはレディース・ソワレに参加するのに興味があるかしら。

N: 英語に興味がある人たちと会うのはすてきだと思うけど
（目配せして）誰かさん以外...（トモのことを言っている）

T: ふん！ クラスで会うのがうんざりだっていうのかい？
F: ちょっと、トモ。ナオミはからかってるだけよ。それでナオミ、
参加するのしないの？
N: トモと酒盛りする機会を逃すと思う？そんなわけないでしょ！
