A father said to his daughter
“You have graduated with honors,
here is a car I bought many years ago.
It is pretty old now.
But before I give it to you,
take it to the used car lot
downtown
and tell them I want to sell it and see how much they offer you for it.”
The daughter went to the
used car lot,
returned to her father and said,
“They offered me £1,000
because they said
it looks pretty worn out.”
The father said,
“ now take it to the pawn shop.”
The daughter went to the
pawn shop,
returned to her father and said,
”The pawn shop offered only £100
because it is an old car.”
The father asked his daughter
to go to a car club now
and show them the car.
The daughter then took the car
to the club,
returned and told her father,
“Some people in the club offered
£100,000 for it because
“it's an iconic car and sought
by many collectors.”
Now the father said this
to his daughter,
“The right place values you
the right way,”
If you are not valued,
do not be angry,
it means you are in
the wrong place.
Those who know your value are
those who appreciate you......
Never stay in a place
where no one sees your value.
父親は娘に言いました
「お前は優秀な成績で卒業した。
ここに私が随分前に買った車がある、
もうかなり古くなっているがな。
だがな
お前に手渡す前にこの車を
ダウンタウンにある中古車屋に
持って行って聞くんだ、
この車を売りたいんです。と。
そして彼らがどの位の値段を
オファーして来るかみてみなさい。」
娘は中古車屋さんに行き
帰って来て父親に言いました。
「彼らは£1,000オファーして来たわ。
だってこの車は随分とくたびれて見えるからって。」
父親は言いました
今度は質屋に持って行きなさい。
娘は質屋に行き
帰って来て父親に言いました。
「質屋はたった£100しかオファーして来なかったわ。この車は古いからって。」
父親は娘に
カークラブに行って彼等に
車を見せて来るようにと言いました。
そして娘はカークラブに車を持って行き、帰ってきた娘は父親に言いました。
「カークラブに居た数人の人達は
この車に£100,000オファーして来たの。
“この車は象徴的な車で、多くのコレクターの人達が求めて居るって。」
そして父親は娘に言いました。
「正しい場所はお前の価値を正しく
見積もるんだ。」
もしお前が値踏みされたら
怒ってはいけないよ。
それはお前が間違った場所に
居るという事なんだ。
お前の価値が分かる者達と言うのは
お前の事を理解して
感謝してくれる者達だよ。
お前の価値を見出せない
者達のところに
留まってはいけないよ。
