「光の祭典」と呼ばれ、毎年七月の中旬三日間開催されるみたままつり。靖国神社と言うと、政治絡みで問題が発生することが間々あり、つい先日も中国人が境内の施設にペンキで破廉恥な落書きをするといった事案が発生していたが、このお祭りの期間は、政治・宗教抜きで内外から多くの老若男女が訪れる。今月初旬から中旬にかけて首都圏に二週間弱滞在していた小生は、離京する前日の七月十五日に参拝すると同時に、お祭りの模様をカメラに収めた。ずらりと並べられた萬燈は、陽が暮れると灯りが点され、幻想的な雰囲気を醸し出す。また、境内には、著名人が揮毫したりイラストを描いたりした提灯も展示されていた。（MITAMA Festival at Yasukuni Shrine, visited July 15: The Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo observes "MITAMA [holy spirit, more specifically spirits of fallen servicemen] Festival"--acclaimed by some as "festivity of light"--in mid-July every year. The Yasukuni Shrine--dedicated to the spirits of deceased personnel of Japanese armed forces in modern time--has occasionally witnessed troubles connected with political issues. Quite recently, some Chinese nationals painted an insolent remark on one of the facilities on the shrine premises. Yet, this festival--devoid of religious or political elements--attracts many visitors, encompassing generations and nationalities. I visited the shrine to pay respect to the enshrined spirits and to see this festival on July 15--the final day of my stay in the Tokyo metropolitan area lasting slightly less than two weeks in early to mid-July. Posted here are some images I took on that occasion. One can see entire shrine premises turning into a kind of fantacy world when many lanterns displayed on the the premises are lit after sunset. Visitors can also see lanterns on which celebrities wrote their favorite remarks or drew/painted illustrations.)

種々の団体、個人が献灯しています。
七夕飾りも。
著名人の献灯。まずは、元バレーボール選手の大林素子さん、当人のアメーバブログあり：
知っている人は知っている漫画家。
私の世代にとっては懐かしい歌手。
今のところ、一人横綱。今場所は、１７日現在全勝です。
北海道岩内町出身の幕内力士。この後、小生は、練馬の光が丘公園によさこいを見に行きました。
そして、夜に再び靖國に舞い戻り、みたままつり見物（無論、その前に今一度参拝しました）。
ねぶたも登場。
結構な人出でした。
大鳥居が萬燈の灯に浮かび上がっています。
