Just crunch away at a daruma

I visited Katsuo-ji temple alongside so many foreign tourists. The day was really busy. I never expected to see so many daruma dolls lying around — I took maybe a hundred photos or so.

At the exit, there was a shop selling souvenirs, snacks, and confectionery. This is where I picked up this crunchy corn snack. I ended up eating it later that day, back at my hotel. I had a cold beer ready because I was thirsty. A daruma that you can crunch, and a beer to wash it down — what more could you want?

It was a simple rod shape — salty, yellow, and with just the right crunchiness. I was a bit surprised that the corn was from the USA rather than local. And at just 43 calories per rod, you cannot go wrong. Just crunch away.
