The Forest Cat of Kyoto

Today’s English listening practice. The title is called The Forest Cat of Kyoto.

---

Deep in the heart of Kyoto, there is a sacred forest called Tadasu no Mori.
It’s old. Quiet. Full of moss-covered stones and tall, whispering trees.
And if you walk very slowly, you might see her—a small brown cat, slipping between the roots.
She doesn’t run. She doesn’t meow.
She just watches.
Like she’s been there for centuries.

Some say she’s a *bakeneko*—a spirit cat from old Japanese tales.
In those stories, cats speak. They remember. They protect.
And sometimes, they return kindness with kindness.

I like to think of her not as a ghost…but as a quiet guardian.
A reminder that even in cities, there are still wild, gentle things—
watching. Waiting. Belonging.

---

That’s all for today.
Thank you for listening.
