さて、
私の大切な友達紹介パート２です
Now is the time for 'my dearest friends part II'.
第二回目の友達は・・・・・
The second friend I'm going to introduce is.....
Xenia from Germany
彼女とは、カリフォルニアの大学でのオリエンテーション初日に出会いました！
I met her on the day of orientation at my university in California.
そのオリエンテーションに出席していたのは、ほとんどヨーロッパからの学生でアジア人はなんと私一人だけでした・・・
Surprisingly, most of the students who attended the orientation were from Europe and I was the only Asian student...そんな中緊張しながらもヨーロッパの学生と交流していた私に、Xeniaはとてもフレンドリーに接してくれました。
When I was communicating with some of them feeling nervous, Xenia treated me with friendliness.
とても仲良くなって、その日のうちに彼女の寮に遊びに行ったことを覚えています(^-^)
We quickly formed our friendships and I visited her dormitory on that day.
自分とは違う文化に興味があると言っていたXeniaとは、日本とドイツの色々なことを話しました
Xenia is very curious about different cultures and we talked with each other about Japan and Germany.
Xeniaが「日本人は本音とは違うことを言うみたいだけど、私には思ったことをはっきり言ってね」と言ってくれた時には、リアルに文化の違いを感じました。
When she said to me 'I know that Japanese don't tell others what they really think, but I want you to tell me what you are thinking clearly', I felt that this is the cultural difference.
Xeniaとの一番の思い出は、サンフランシスコにあるジャパンタウンに行ったことです
One of the wonderful memories with Xenia is that we went to Japan Town in San Francisco together.
プリクラの速いペースでの撮影に、ビックリして慌てていたXeniaがとても可愛かったです(*^▽^*)
She was surprised and upset with the very fast shooting in print club saying 'what's going on!?', and I thought she was very cute.
こんなところにも文化の違いはあったのだなぁと感じた瞬間でした。
I also found the cultural difference at the place where I didn't expect to.
その後、日本料理を一度も食べたことがない彼女に私が作ったちらし寿司を食べてもらいました。
After that, I cooked chirashi sushi for her because she had never tasted Japanese food.
モノをはっきりと言う彼女が、美味しいといってお代わりしてくれたのでとても安心しました！
I was very relieved to see her saying 'delicious!' and having a refill because I knew that she would say what she felt honestly.
アメリカに来る前までは全く別の国に住んでいた私たち。それにも関わらず、こんなにも仲良くなれたことがとてもうれしいです(ノ^^)八(^^ )ノ
I'm really glad that we built good friendships although our home countries are very different from each other.
今度彼女に会うのはドイツでか日本でか・・・楽しみです
I'm looking forward to seeing her again in Germany or in Japan.
