Profile of photographer BOSS

BOSS, the owner of two hair salons operating in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture - the city in which he currently lives, was born in 1963. BOSS's hairdressing techniques and artistic sensibility have earned him a strong reputation as a hairdresser. In 2000, while running the hair salons, BOSS opened a nightclub called Ground Record and enriched his relationship with the wide-ranging music scene. His promotional activities for his salons and music events led him to study photography on his own and begin his photographic work.
As a hair salon owner, BOSS has been successful in helping his staff improve their skills by taking photographs for design portfolios based on the perspectives of both hairdresser and photographer. As a nightclub owner, in the meantime, he has always been eager to investigate how it is possible to clearly capture the rapid movements of dancers and DJs and also to take impressive photographs despite under appalling In September 2010, he published a photo and art book titled "Postcard_12" in collaboration with art & graphic designer Mr Takuya Komaba. BOSS is very active in the magazine, music and wedding industries as well as various other genres, from which BOSS has attracted attention as a "totally unique artist," such as marine sports, doggy photo, Shichi-Go-San festival and Coming of Age ceremony.


フォトグラファーＢＯＳＳプロフィール

１９６３年生まれ。

千葉県千葉市 在住。市内に２店舗の美容室を経営するサロンオーナー。

美容師としての職人的な技術・アーティスティックなセンスは、今もなお高い評価を受け続けている。

‘００年には美容室経営の傍ら、クラブ「ＧＲＯＵＮＤ ＲＥＣＯＲＤ」をＯＰＥＮさせ、あらゆる音楽シーンとの交流も深めた。当時、サロンや音楽イベント等をプロモートする目的をきっかけに、独学で撮影技術を学び、カメラを握ることとなる。

サロンオーナーとしては、美容師・カメラマンという２つの目線を持ち、ポートフォリオ撮影を行うことで、サロンスタッフの技術向上へと発展させた。

一方クラブオーナーとしては、ダンサーやＤＪの早い動きを明確に捉える事、悪条件な撮影環境・被写体を前に「どうしたら心に響く１枚を撮れるか」ということを研究し続けた。

また、自身の好きな海や山等でも多くの撮影を行い、その間に培われた技術は、「被写体をより自然に捉える事ができる フォトグラファーＢＯＳＳ」の大きな魅力となっている。

そして以前に自身が「楽器演奏者」だったこともあり、ステージ関係の撮影においては、「未経験者には解り得ぬ一瞬を捉える事が出来る」というのも、音楽関係者から高く評価されている。

その他に、美容業界で培った感性や、人を安心させる朗らかな性格も、自然体の写真を撮る上で必要不可欠なものとなった。

’０９年には「ＨＡＰＰＹが繋がるフォト」をテーマに、フリーマガジン「ＣＨＩＢＡ ＧＩＲＬＳ ＦＩＬＥ」を創刊し、フォトグラファーＢＯＳＳとして更に活動の場を広げた。

そして‘１０年９月、アート＆グラフィックデザイナー ＴＡＫＵＹＡ ＫＯＭＡＢＡ氏とのコラボレーションによる、フォト×アートブック「ＰＯＳＴＣＡＲＤ_１２」を発売。

現在は雑誌・音楽・ブライダル業界をはじめ、マリンスポーツ・ワンちゃんフォト・七五三・成人式等、「唯一無二の表現者」として様々なジャンルから注目を集め、精力的に活動を行っている。
