■ hail from
「･･･の出身である」という意味です。 hailには、「褒める」という意味もあります。
次のような例文が挙げられていました。
He is being hailed as the most innovated entrepreneur in the country.
■ put someone at their ease
「人を安心させる」という意味です。
一方、feel at easeといえば、「リラックス」しているという意味になります。
■ shoot off questions
「立て続けに質問を投げかける」という意味です。
shoot offを使った他の表現としては、shoot off one's mouthやshoot one's mouth off
があり、「しゃべりまくる」という意味です。
■ level playing field
「同じ土俵」、「対等の立場」という意味です。
■ of one’s own will
「自分の自由意思で」、「自主的に」という意味です。
■ something along the lines of
「･･･に沿ったもの」という意味で、次のような例文が挙げられていました。
He said something along the lines of I want the log to be more dramatic.
