チェットさん 雨と下がった穀物相場

先週の火曜日と水曜日にやっと雨が降りました。うちの畑では２５～５０ミリの雨量です。これは、とても素晴らしいことです。

昨晩も数ミリの雨が降り、今週も雨の可能性があります。

 

気温も下がり最高気温は３０℃以下、最低気温は１７，８℃です。

湿度は依然として高く、今朝写真を撮る度にカメラのレンズを拭かなければいけない程です。

 

前に話した農務省のレポートが金曜日に出て、とうもろこしの作付面積が１４０万エーカー増えました！　（１４０万エーカーは全体の１．５％に相当）

とうもろこしは下がり、大豆は作付面積は減ったのにつられて下がりました。

 

一週間で１２月とうもろこしは３２セント下がり、９月大豆は１４．２５セント下がりました。

 

望みが無くなったわけではありません。作付け報告は６月１５日までの情報で出されるので過去２週間のアイオワ、ミネソタ、サウスダコタ州の洪水の被害が考慮されていません。

聞くところによれば少なくとも１００万エーカーが全損か作付け不能になっていますし、今後のホットアンドドライの天候懸念が消えたわけではありません。

穀物価格が下がったので需要もついてくるかもしれません。

 

一方、今年の夏にコーンベルトが雨に恵まれれば秋のとうもろこし価格は３ドル台に下がり、しかも３ドル台の下の方かもしれません。

 

今週の写真は、うちで育ちが一番良い１６５エーカーの大豆畑で腰の高さに育ち、花が咲いています。とうもろこしは雄花が出てコブも付いています。とうもろこし畑を堤防から見たところです。今週はまだ小さい大豆の間に生えてきた葛に除草剤を撒き、天気次第ですがとうもろこしにも散布をする予定です。

チェットさんの畑、雨が降って良かったです。これなら受粉期も乗り切れそうです。

一方、とうもろこしの値段は下がっています。

ファンドの売りも溜まっているし、あまり欲を搔かないで買い始めた方が良い気がしますが、皆買えないんですよね。

We finally received some rainfall last Tuesday and Wednesday , from 1-2
inches on everything we farm. This will help greatly, we received another
couple of tenths last night and have a good chance several days next week as
well. Temperatures have also cooled with highs in the mid-80's and lows in
the 60's. Our humidity remains high and I had to wipe the camera lens off
between every picture this morning.
The USDA report that I talked about came out Friday and found 1.4 million
more acres of corn! This caused corn to drop and even with less bean acres
they followed. For the week December corn lost 32 cents while September
beans lost 14 1/4 cents. All is not lost though as the acreage survey ended
June 15th and did not take into account the flooding in Iowa, Minnesota and
South Dakota of the last 2 weeks and I am hearing at least 1 million acres
have been lost or will not be planted, and we still have the possibility of
hot and dry weather ahead. Also grain prices might be cheap enough to spur
some demand. If the corn belt continues getting rainfall this summer I
believe the first number for the price of fall corn will be a three and
maybe not high threes! 
Pictures this week are of some of our biggest beans, waist high already,
blooms and looking across a 165 acre field, corn that is tasseling and
putting on ears and looking across a corn field from on top of the levee.
 Next week we plan to respray a few fields of smaller beans that have water
hemp emerging in between the rows and will probably start corn fungicide by
the end of the week, weather permitting.
