2月にしては穏やかな天気で、最高、最低気温とも平年より6度も高かったです。
先週は雨もなく、今週は週末に雨の可能性がありますが、それまでは乾燥した日が続きそうです。
地面が乾いたので窒素肥料のアンモニア散布や秋に出来なかった耕起作業を木曜日まではできそうです。
先週の穀物相場はまたも下がりました。
今は、穀物価格を支える良いニュースはなさそうです。
需要家は控えていた買いを再開しそうなので、少しの戻しはあるかも知れません。
とうもろこし、大豆とも今の相場より高いところで売りの指値を入れているので、相場が更に下がる前に指値が入ると良いのですが。
川の水位は、先週に6メートルを超えた後に下がり始め、今の水位は4.8メートルです。
先週はライアンと私で土木工事をし、今週もその続きをします。
チャドと仲間は、農機具整備と穀物をエレベーターに運び、週後半は畑に出ることができるでしょう。
今週は、郡と排水区の会議もいくつか入っています。

イリノイ川が氾濫しなくて良かったです。
まだ2月ですが農作業の時期に入りかけています。
優秀な農家は、あちこちにある畑に何を植え、作業をどの順番でするか、段取りが見えています。
ですが、農作業の段取りも、5年後位にはAIが代行していそうです。
AIによる自動化に追われ、人間だけしか出来ない仕事を探すのは大変そうです。
それって、遊びだけ？

Nice weather for February with temperatures running about 10 degrees above normal for both the daily highs and lows. We did not receive any rainfall this week and next week’s forecast is dry until a chance of rain next weekend. The ground is drying out and I believe we could be putting on NH3 and doing some leveling of chisel plowed fields that we didn’t get done last fall by Thursday! Grain markets worked lower again this week and there doesn’t seem to be much “good” news for grains right now. It looks to me like end users are back to just in time grain buying and if so we could see some short lived rallies along the way. We have some offers above the market on both corn and beans and hope to catch a rally before it fades. The river has started down and is at 18 feet this morning after rising to over 20 feet last week.
Ryan and I were able to work on some construction projects this week and hope to continue making progress next week while Chad and the other guy’s work on equipment , haul grain and we might be in the field later in the week. I also have several meetings next week for the county and drainage district.
