先週はじめは寒かったですが、気温が上がり５０ミリ近くの雨も降りました。
雪は解けましたが、土がまだ凍っているので水が溢れました。
イリノイ川は先週２．４メートル水位が上がり今朝の水位は５．４メートルです。
来週遅くに６．３メートルの最高水位を迎える予想で、これは通常水位より３メートル高く、洪水水位を１．８メートル超えています。
畑には植物もなく、雪も遅かれ早かれ皆解けるでしょうから、高水位はしばらく続きそうです。
地域の排水区のポンプを２基動かして畑の水路から排水していますが、川から染み込んできた水で畑に埋めた排水管は一杯です。
水位が4.2メートルに下がるまで1基のポンプは動かし続ける事になりそうです。
今週は温かく雨も無さそうなので、少しは良くなるかもしれません。
アイオワ州は例年より暖かい予報なので雪解けでミシシッピー河の水位は上がりそうです。
穀物相場はあまり動きが無く、４ドル５０セントより高い所で、期近持ち込みのとうもろこしを少し売りました。
先週の３月限とうもろこしは、かすかに上がり３月大豆は４セント下がりました。
息子達は農薬散布の講習会に参加し、散布の試験も受けました。（二人とも合格）
大豆のプランター整備を終え、今は薬剤の散布機を整備した後、売ったとうもろこしを運びながら２４条植えの高速プランターを整備します。
土木工事や畑の草刈りをするには泥濘すぎているので、その仕事はお預けです。

雪解けと川の水位上昇、春になると恒例ですが、穀物積み出しが遅れるかもしれません。
After a cold and icy start to the week temperatures warmed and we received almost 2 inches of rainfall. This melted what snow we had but the ground in most areas was still frozen so we had a lot of runoff. The Illinois river has risen almost 8 feet in the last week and stands at 17.7 this morning. A crest of 20.6 is forecast for late next week, that will be more than 10 feet above normal pool and 6 feet above flood stage. I guess if it is going to be high this is as good a time as any since no crops are growing and it is getting rid of all the snow that will have to melt sooner or later. I have been running two pumps for several days to keep water in the ditch banks of our drainage district and will probably have to leave one pump run until the river gets back to 14 feet as seep water is now making many tile lines run full stream. Next week looks warm and dry which should help. Iowa is forecast to have much above normal temperatures and should loose most of their snow as well which will make the Mississippi river rise.
Grain markets didn’t do much this week, I did sell a little corn above $4.50 for nearby delivery. For the week March corn ended up fractionally while March beans lost 4 cents.
The guy’s attended a spray application workshop and took their chemical applicator test (everyone passed!), finished our bean planter up, are now working on the sprayer and plan to get the 24 row hi-speed planter in next week to go thru it along with hauling the corn I sold. It will be too muddy for any construction projects or mowing around fields so those will have to wait.
