能登半島地震で亡くなられた方々のご冥福と被災された方々に平穏が早く戻るよう祈っております。
チェットさんからは、今朝、地震の事で安否を気遣うメールが来ていました。
以下は元旦の朝（地震の前）に届いたチェットさんのメールです。
今日は大晦日なので、私の今年最後のセンチュリーコーンニュースです！
先週は２９２ミリもの雨と僅かな雪が降りました。
気温は平年並みで最高気温は４℃、最低気温は氷点下です。
来週も気温は変わらず、雨は無さそうです。
先週の穀物相場は動きがありませんでしたが、指値しておいた大豆の売りが水曜日の夜から木曜日の朝に約定されました。
水曜日には腕の抜糸で病院に行きました。
医者は予後はとても良いが、今回はそれなりの手術だったので完治させる為、数週間は９００グラム以上の物を持たないよう言いました。
土木作業をして良いか聞くと、痛みが無い限り構わないとの回答だったので、土が乾いたら仕事を始めるつもりです。
私が療養している内に息子たちは倉庫の照明をＬＥＤに替えました。
倉庫内ではサングラスが必要なほど明るいです。
時間と共に暗くなったライトに気づいていなかったようです。
息子達は倉庫の大掃除もしました。この倉庫は建てて20年近くになりますが、とても奇麗です。
掃除をした後に大豆の種まき機を持ち込んで分解整備を始め、春に備えています。
チャドは新しい高速種まき機用の液肥散布キットを注文し、数週間後にはセットできそうです。
息子たちと私は会計士と会いました。
私達はいつも年末前に税申告と節税の可能性を確認しています。
今週の写真は、暖炉の前に吊り下げられた孫たちへの靴下と沢山のプレゼントが下に並べられたクリスマスツリーです。

This will be my last Century Corn News this year since it is the last day of
the year!
This past week we ended up with close to 11/2 inches of rainfall
and a trace of snowfall. Temperatures are close to normal with high's near
40 and lows at or below freezing. Those temperatures look to continue next
week with mostly dry conditions. Grain markets didn't do much last week, but
we did have some offers in on soybeans that got hit Wednesday night or
Thursday morning.
I had a doctor's appointment on Wednesday to take stitches out, the doctor
said everything looked great but he ask me to stay at the 2lb weight
restriction for another few weeks as he told me he did a lot of work on my
elbow and wants to give it time to heal! I asked if I could run
construction equipment and he said yes as long as it didn't hurt so I plan
to start next week when it dries up.
The guy's put new LED lights in the shop while I was recuperating and you
almost need sunglasses inside now! I didn't realize how dark it had become
with the old lights. They also gave it the best cleaning it has had since we
built it almost 20 years ago and I will have to admit it does look good.
After the cleanup they pulled the bean planter in and started taking it
apart to replace some parts and get it ready for spring. Chad also ordered a
liquid system for his new high speed corn planter that we will put on in a
few weeks.
Ryan, Chad and I also meet with our accountant to get yearend stuff in line,
we always fine tune each entity right before the end of the year and try to
mitigate taxes as much as possible.
Pictures this week are of our fireplace with stockings hung for the
grandkids and our tree with lots of presents under.
