土曜に25ミリの雨が降ったので収穫はゆっくりです。 雨の前には大豆を収穫し、収穫したとうもろこしの乾燥作業も捗りました。
月曜の午後2時から収穫を再開しました。 畑はまだ湿っていますが、雨と雪の天気予報が出たので、夜の9時まで収穫を続け、100エーカー、550トンを収穫しました。 月曜の夜には再び雨が降りましたが、今日の午後には収穫を再開して乾燥前のとうもろこしを保管するサイロを一杯にするつもりです。とうもろこしの水分は平均24％と高く、畑で水分が下がる事は期待できそうにありません。
集荷施設での農家のトラックの行列も、まだ短いままです。 多くの農家は、とうもろこしの収穫を遅らせて水分が畑で下がるのを待っているようです。
私はまだ450エーカーの大豆と1000エーカーを超えるとうもろこしの収穫が残っていますが、規則正しく収穫作業を続けたいと思います。
皆さんは、俳優ビルマーレイが出ていた映画、グランドホッグディ（邦題：恋はデジャ・ブ）を見たことがあるでしょうか。
映画の中で主人公は朝目覚めると、同じ日を永遠に繰り返す状況に陥りますが、今年の収穫は、まるでこの映画の様です！

ここにきて雨が増え、チェットさんも収穫の遅れで不安になっているようです。
天気ととうもろこしの乾燥の様子を見ながらじりじりと収穫する日々がまだ続きそうです。

Harvest continues at a slow pace as we received over an inch of rain Saturday. Before the rain we were able to catch up on beans ready to harvest and also kept corn in the wet bin for the drier to dry. We started corn harvest again about 2pm yesterday, muddy but with the forecast of more rain and snow we decided to continue and by 9pm had over 100 acres and 22,000 bushels harvested. Another shower last night but we plan to go this afternoon and fill the wet bin again. Corn moisture yesterday averaged 24% and drying in the field looks to be limited for the remainder of the season. Lines at area elevators have been limited as many producers are waiting for their corn to dry in the field. We still have about 450 acres of beans along with over 1000 acres of corn to harvest and plan to continue our methodical pace. If you have ever watched the movie Groundhog Day, where every day when actor Bill Murry wakes up, it is the same day over and over again, well that is what harvest this year is like!
