3月27日のおしゃべりclub Bでの会話を一部ご紹介します。
政府と若者世代
始まって既に２年以上が経過するコロナ禍。当初は感染すると高齢者が重症化し易く若者は軽症の傾向がありました。そのせいか行動範囲が広く感染の可能性を高めそうな若者への政府の勧告は若干厳しく、彼らを不満に思わせることもありました。そんな日本政府と若者の不和についての記事を読んだ後、今度はウクライナ侵攻を行うロシア政府と若者の記事を見ました。今回の侵攻に関して彼らはどう思い、どう反応しているのでしょう？
Unlike Japanese youngsters, they are not free to express their own opinions about their government. But they are sure to be frustrated with this situation.
と日本より言論の自由がないロシアでの若者の立場を心配する声がありました。けれども報道規制も厳しいロシアで彼らは正しい情報を得ているのでしょうか。
Younger generations tend to be tech savvy. So they can somehow access accurate information through the internet, even if the government tries to control it.
と、テクノロジーに敏感な若者たちが正しい情報を得ていると参加者たちは確信していました。けれども現実を知れば知るほど彼らは政府に失望するのではないでしょうか。
Of course, many of them are disappointed with their government. That’s why some young people are fleeing Russia.
と国外脱出を図る若者たちの情報を紹介する参加者がいました。しかし今回のことで国外ではロシア人を排除する傾向もあって彼らの行く末が心配です。
After all, once Putin leaves his position, it may be possible that Russia will transform itself into a democratic society. In order to achieve that, the country needs to depend on youngsters who have more liberal ideas.
とプーチン後のロシアには自由な発想を持つ若者の力が必要だという意見が出ました。大変なことですが、彼らに頑張ってもらいたいです。
これを聞いたひとりの参加者は
If that kind of situation occurred in Japan, we couldn’t depend on Japanese young people. They’re so accustomed to the status quo that they might have no courage or will to tackle social challenges.
と現状に甘んじている日本の若者に失望している様子でした。しかし
I don’t totally agree with you. Japanese young people, especially young males are more sensitive to gender equality and pacifism than older generations, so we could rely on them building a more harmonious and comfortable society.
と日本の若者、特に男性たちの平等感覚、平和主義を好ましく思うという意見が出ました。それも一つの意見ですね。今戦争を起こしているプーチンはマッチョタイプの典型です。各国のリーダーはまだ男性が圧倒的に多いですが、より多くの女性や心優しい男性のリーダーが増えると世界は平和に近づいて行くようにも思われます。次世代を担う若者たちに期待したいですね。
