"Katsumata brings in thumbtacks!

The ex-idol shows his hidden madness"

"After idol unit NωA split up and he joined Konosuke Takeshita and Akito in ALL OUT, Shunma Katsumata's first act of self-assertion was his announcement that he was challenging Yukoh Miyamoto for the DDT Extreme Championship. Katsumata expressed his "readiness", and at the

Ageo show on February 18th, he said "Deatmatch or Hardcore is fine by me". Afterwards, the match format was decided as "Hardcore +α". Then, Katsumata's vague "readiness" took shape three days before the show. The challenger unexpectedly announced that he would be bringing thumbtacks to the match.

Although it was a simple thing, his declaration that he would be bringing a weapon that causes so much pain made a big impact, and it surprised everyone. However, when he made his entrance, Katsumata was carrying a bamboo sword. Everyone was thinking, "Where are the thumbtacks?", but perhaps this was part of his strategy. In the final stages of the match, he took the large container of thumbtacks he had hidden under the ring, and without hesitation, poured them onto his head, then performed a moonsault press. In exchange, he took a wave of attacks from Miyamoto, resulting in having thumbtacks embedded in his back and his head.

Having a match in DDT that uses thumbtacks is a gamble, but the response from the fans was... a big "Katsumata" chant. Even though Katsumata was defeated, Miyamoto acknowledged his "readiness".

Katsumata felt uplifted, and said "I feel like something new has just started", saying he'd be interested in doing another deathmatch if one came up. He repeated that he had respect for deathmatch fighters. With that, he spoke out, saying "It's not as if I went into this half-heartedly. I wanted to try it".

Nobody could have imagined that an ex-idol would be covered in thumbtacks and displaying his hidden madness. Although Katsumata lost the match, he succeeded in showing his "strength" as a wrestler."
