７０年代後半、ボブ・マーリーが第三世界出身の最初のスーパースターになり、その後黒人音楽はどんどん発展し続けていきました。
黒人音楽はレベルミュージックだからおもしろかったのに、P.Diddy（97年くらいから）以降、グロックがどうのやらリモやレクサスがどうのやらと言い出して、ゴミばかり量産するようになりました。
その後、ヒップホップやダンスミュージクが世界のメインストリームになったことは、説明不要かと思いますが、
我々極東のブラックミュージックファン/クラブミュージックファンは、そういったゴミ音楽を量産する新自由主義的マインドに嫌気がさして、ヒップホップやレゲエから離れてったのです。
だったら単純なパーティーミュージックやラブソングのほうがぜんぜん良かったし。。
ところが2000年代中盤から、サブカルという大きなくくりにおいては、インターネットを介して情報の普及と共有（コモディティ化）がなされ、
また911やイラク戦争、リーマンショック、ウォール街デモなどを通して、
ジョン・レノンやマイケル・ジャクソンやボブ・マーリーをはじめとしたミュージシャンたちや、ネルソン・マンデラやケネディーやマルコムＸらのような政治家たちが、本当に何を言わんとしていたかが明らかになってきました。
ぼくたちは、やっと世界の系譜が理解できるようになりました。
おっさん達が「昔は良かった論」に基づいて言う抽象的な話などではなく、歴史や文化の深度に根ざした真の意味でのグローバリズムを理解し始めたのだと思います。
というわけで、ボブ・マリーズ・チャイルドとも言っていい、その系譜を踏襲する人たちの音楽を。
