今仕事で、ある図書館の利用規定の翻訳(英→日)をしています。
原文の解釈は何とかなっているのですが、ちょっと法律的な部分があって、利用規定らしい日本語にするのに一番苦労しています。リーガル翻訳のクラスを取ったら少しは楽になるのでしょうかね？
I'm currently translating Terms & conditions of a library into Japanese at work.
Understanding is fine. The most difficult part is expressing in Japanese appropriate for the writing as it is somewhat legal. Do you think a legal translation class helps me?
和訳をやるたびに英語力以上に日本語力が試されていると感じます。
翻訳家を目指す者として英語の勉強も大事ですが、日本語の勉強も大事ですね。
Every time I translate, I feel my Japanese is tested.
As a future translator, it is important to study Japanese as well as English.
ちなみに私は根が文学少女ではないこともあり、文学の翻訳に向かないことだけははっきり自覚しています。
One clear fact I recognise is I am not for translating literature, because I am not a literature girl.
