Kai has received tons of great birthday gifts from family and friends - and one of them was the stencil kit (Thank you very much Mr. and Mrs. Holman!).

"I am ready, mum."

Looks like he is actualy doing a pretty good job, from this angle, huh?

Unfortunatelly...

His attention span was quite short this morning, as shown in this picture.

Kai also got new additions to his Lego collection from both sets of grandparents.

Ever-expanding Kai's lego world...

Meanwhile, his brother was:

Napping.

A (much needed) peaceful moment in the afternoon.

Rei, after basically crying non-stop the whole morning (officially, he is no longer an easy baby), finally asleep.

And Kai, after coming back from the pre-school, passed out on the sofa.

Can you see the resemblance?

A baby version:

A seriously big-sized 3-year-old version...

One more day and G will go back to work (sigh).

Extremely tired parents = one disheveled looking kiddo.

Kai, too close to the camera.

Rei was out with his big brother today.

Okay, I am officially too tired to even write one more word,

Good night!

Kai turned three today - I cannot believe it has been already/only three years since he joined our family...

Since we have been talking about his upcoming birthday for quite some time, Kai knew he was having a birthday and birthday party.

But when I tried to sing a birthday song for him the first thing in the morning, he stopped me, saying "You have to sing it with a cake! There's no cake!" (Or was it just a polite excuse to stop me?)

Well, we had a small party to celebrate his birthday - just my parents and a couple of very old friends and their family.

Everybody enjoying G's homemade pizzas/salad (Kudos for G, who had to slave himself for hours in the kitchen for this lunch!)

Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you. --

G's homemade birthday cake! (from a Nigella Lawson book - serious amount sugar and butter here.)

Kai's big moment.

As I said, the cake contained serious amount of sugar - as you can see it from Kai's face. He has lost the ability to control his expressions...

Kai's got so many great presents from everybody - thank you very much!

However, I have to say, the person who enjoyed those gifts the most could be his dad...(Here, boys working on some engineering).

Happy Birthday Kai!

Hello family and friends, long time no see!

As you well know, we have a new addition to this family.

This is Rei.

He was born on Sep. 22, 2006.

The big brother Kai fell immediately in love with his younger brother.

"Let me hold him!"

"Baby is so cute!"

He has been (surprisingly) good to Rei since the very beginning.

Has been a great help when it comes to changing his nappies, as well.

"This is my brother!"

Rei has been such a quiet baby so far.

Well, I hope he will remain that way (fingers crossed!)

And now we are back at home:

A big yawn.

(thanks Rose for his little coverall!)

To me, Rei looks just like Kai when he was a newborn, only a bit smaller.

Kai has been also helping bathing Rei. He has been oddly fascinated with the baby bath as well (as evidenced in this picture).

And thank you Sonja and Huw for this big brother badge. He was very proud to put it on!

"I am so big now that I need to shave!"

He can be a bit pestering, sometimes...(notice, Rei while askeep is trying to escape from his big brother's hug?)

Well, with a new addition to our family, life goes on.

"Really yummy chocolate browny!"

Three boys lounging on the floor.

Still, Kai's favourite activity at home is to play with Lego.

He is especially attached to the Lego figures and insists on taking shower and going to bed with them at night.

Obviously, the very first thing he wants to do in the morning is to play with Lego.

And after his morning shower, he is back playing with his "zookeeper" and "Bob the builder."

He is currently into making towers and castles, as well as diggers and airplanes.

And you know the last thing he wants to do before going to bed? Yep, you guessed it right - playing with Lego with Daddy,

This morning, since it was raining outside, G and Kai decided to have a craft day.

"We are going to make a rocket first."

G is dead serious with this rocket construction.

Meanwhile, Kai is not taking the whole thing too seriously.

Painting bit is a bit more fun.

Getting really into it...

"Actually, painting my own hand is more interesting..."

Now, painting on some papers, too.

Cutting and pasting some sea animals.

The results!

Is this a masterpiece of what? (Kai still not taking the whole thing too seriously.)

He loves his rocket though!

Well, one thing I can say from this whole experience:

I am not going to have another craft day without G - NO WAY!

Kudos for G though for such a great job!

Today, despite the weather forecast (rain in the afternoon, and yep, we got rained), we ventured out to the Kasai-Rinkai park to have a little family picnic.

Boys eyeing each other's food.

G's special sandos were huge hits.

Kai ate 2 of these and a couple of plums - a growing boy or what?!

After filling up, it was time to kick some balls.

Then, moving to the beach front...

By the way, the reason why Kai is looking a bit like a hamster is because he has a handful of cranberries in his mouth.

It was nice way to keep him quiet.

The moment we got to the beach, he started to dig up...

"I am being a digger!" - ah, I see...

Have I told you that Kai *absolutely* loves icecream?

Well, you'd be a judge.

"Hmmmm. Mint chocolate icecream..."

"Only a bite, daddy!"

(Can you tell that he is SERIOUSLY worried about it?)

"It's mine!"

"Aaaa! Tasty!!!"

Today was such a nice day, so we took advantage of the weahter and went back to Kai's favourite pond.

I promise, this is a new picture. He is just wearing the same clothes (almost - he has his brand new shoes on!).

He spent almost an hour chasing dragonflies - they were all over the place,

After all that running, he needed some refueling.

And we walked (well, he basically ran all the way up to the park - this kid is seriously full of energy at the moment) to a new park where you can see the Pacific (okay okay, it's really the Tokyo Bay, it just sounds better to call it pacific, doesn't it?).

After dinner - G was making some special Friday Gin and Tonic and Kai insisted on sucking a piece of Lemon.

We both expected some kind of dramatic reaction (yep, we are evil), but surprisingly, Kai enjoyed the taste of Lemon. Here, he is amusing himself with his own reflection on the window.
