After 5 months, the land looks much better now! The edge is filled by strong stones up to 4 meter high. And the land is almost flat now. Comparing the photos of last December, it's a big improvement and the land looks much bigger now. Can feel the good weather just from the pics and cannot stop imagining the life on it!
Every week Spain cooking class goes on, so we have Spain food to show again! This time is Spain paella. As this is an impulse cooking, we forgot to buy some ingredients. Okay, just keep it simple. Surprisingly the taste is really good, not much difference from eating in restaurants!
Chi 第一堂西班牙料理。回家試作第一彈：Garlic Prawn 和 Spanish Omlette。味道很好！今次Cafe Project信心大增。我們—邊吃—邊討論著每道菜怎樣定價，得知小豆島上已有—間Cafe 是做意大利及西班牙菜的，更想去秘密打探—下取經。
The first Spain cooking class for Chi. And the first revision at home is garlic prawn and Spainish omlette. It tastes really nice. Can't help to say Chi has the talent. While we eating we discussed on the pricing of the dishes and we got to know there is another Spainish restaurant on Shodousima. It's good we have a friend/rival to give us challenges.
八月十五日，想不到只有四天的超短旅程，可以碰上小豆島一年—度的夏祭及花火大會。地點在草壁港近海的—大片空地，雖然規模當然不及其他出名的地方，但售賣祭祀傳統食品，玩意等都包羅萬有。重點是人流的感覺是＂啱啱好＂，不會迫人到死，但氣氛也很熱鬧。花火大會開始前一刻，全場燈光熄滅…然後＂碰＂—聲第一顆煙火炸開亮了半空，氣氛超正！！！ A very short 4 day trip to shodoshima in August luckily clashes the summer festival on the island. Location is a big piece of flat land near kusakabe harbour. Although the scale of the festival is not too big, the feeling is "Just Perfect" as not crowded like hell but the atmosphere is very nice. Small tents selling different japanese traditional toys and snacks, local performance, etc. Just before the fireworks started, all the lights goes off....then "BANG!" the first one lighted up the sky!!
有名的Olive 紀念公園就在下坡道三分鐘步程之內。説起小豆島最出名的便是橄欖，由於地埋上近次地中海氣候，多年前引入了橄欖種植，現在已經成了小豆島的標誌，也可以說是日本唯—大量種植橄欖的地方。這裡出產的橄欖油，可比美世界其他任何地方啊！ The famous attraction Olive Garden is just within 3 minute walking distance. Given it's peculiar geographical position and Mediterranean climate, Shodoshima is a perfect place for growing olive. Nowadays olive is the icon of the island and the olive products here can compete with any other places in the world.
What kind of place is Shodoshima like? It's a small island between Japan main island and Shikoku, and must be accessed through through the sea. The nearest route is from Takamatsu, the biggest city in kagawaken. The high speed boat takes only 35 minutes.
