BELLS BEACH, Victoria/AUS (Wednesday, March 30, 2016) - The second stop on the 2016 Samsung Galaxy WSL Championship Tour, the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, has been called OFF for the day due to heavy onshore winds and a decreasing swell on offer.
“It is still looking windy out there and it is not looking that great,” said WSL Deputy Commissioner Jessi Miley-Dyer. “The forecast we have at the moment is showing promise for the weekend, so we are going to be off today again.”
Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 8am to assess the conditions and make the next call.
When competition resumes the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach will witness exciting heavyweight match-ups in the men’s and women’s competition.
Men’s Round 4 Heat 3 will host 2016 WSL rookie Conner Coffin (USA) against Jordy Smith (ZAF) and three-time WSL Champion Mick Fanning (AUS). Heat 2 will see a battle between current rankings leader Matt Wilkinson (AUS), Wiggolly Dantas (BRA) and event wildcard Mason Ho (HAW).
Women’s Round 4 Heat 3 will see current rankings leader, Tyler Wright (AUS), against local favorite Nikki Van Dijk (AUS). Six-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) will battle Malia Manuel (HAW) in women’s Round 4 Heat 2. Gilmore will fight to comeback from her Round 4 exit at Snapper Rocks and continue to chase a 4th Bells Title.

Small mid period swell from the southwest holding during the next few days. Light and variable southwest winds until Friday and switching to the east. Small mid period swell from the west holding during the weekend. Light and variable west-southwest winds and switching to the south-southeast.
